About the event
On March 30th 1972 the Royal Canadian Navy with pomp and circumstance discontinued the traditional daily rum ration. Known as Black Tot Day this is a day many sailors gather to hoist a glass to commemorate traditions now past.
We are excited to share five rums - thoughtfully chosen - that exemplify this tradition.
Below the Salt's owner/distiller, Captain Gregg Colp will share how forty years of distilling has led him to earn four international medals for his rums in the first two years of opening the distillery.
Gregg will walk you through the history of Navy Rum, its expressions, and stories garnered from his extensive seafaring travels and teachings from those who generously shared their knowledge in the Caribbean, France and the American South. market.
