Trois Capitaines THE KING's CUT

PREMIUM RUM - LIMITED BOTTLING
For the Rum Enthusiast wanting something special

The King’s Cut is a premium version of our Trois Capitaines Merchant Navy Rum – fit for a king !

This Limited Edition bottling marks a significant point in our history. We can now reach into our inventory and conduct it like an orchestra choosing all the best notes to marry into a symphonic pour.

Bold and punchy with the slight burn you would expect at 57.5% ABV, this is a big, generous rum. Fruit up front, easing into a smooth cocoa finish with hints of something more.

Distiller's Notes

The nose has an abundance of aromas that rums many years older would struggle to emulate. It opens with notes that feel almost standard – salt, honey, vanilla, caramel. Brown sugar – before kicking into gear. From there – rancio, hogo, pineapple cinnamon, nougat, almonds rotting oranges, flambeed bananas. There’s a lot to savour here.

The palate is quite amazing. Easily feels 10% below it’s stated strength – the balance is that good. The feel is firm and well-composed – indeed most mistake it for a mid to high forty ABV rum. Firm and spicy as expected at this strength with notes of honey, caramel, brine, olives, rotting oranges before picking up a head of steam – pickles, cola, oak tannins.

The finish is largely an echo of the palate with brown sugar, toffee, stone fruits and cocoa.

A Bit About the Label

Below the Salt Partner Victoria, was aboard ship during a particularly early season blizzard that hammered the east coast while working on her long term project Trading Places. Little did she know that this ship was carrying one of the last loads of gypsum to be shipped from the Little Narrows Gypsum Mine on Cape Breton Island.  The load was rushed as a new front was approaching, and the dock would not take the weight of a fully loaded vessel  heaving in a storm. In tight quarters, the Master and Pilot pivoted the ship about and we steamed out the Narrows with the front swiftly overtaking us from the stern.  Victoria  loves weather and enjoyed every moment of that voyage.
